Rendering

"Just read an article on Aardman Animation's new Christmas CG Feature "Arthur Christmas". Some frames took 20-30 hours to render! So 1 second could have taken a month to render.... that is if you're using 1 machine.... :P "

This is what my lecturer posted on our FMS DVFX group, and now I am curious in reading that article.

BUT!!!!

It's crazy!!! To take 20-30 hours to render some frames? OMFG. Thanks god they invented batch render, render farm, THOUGH it still took damn long for them to render.
All the polygons and quality stuffs for them to render.

For those not in media/film/animation related industry.
1 Frame is like erm, a frame. A single still, no movement, nothing.
1 sec is like 24/25 frames. Though there are till 50/60 and the newer ones 72, depending on the quality, format etc.etc.
so, 1 minute is like 24/25 * 60
1 hour is 24/25* 60 * 60 and if they takes 20-30 hours to render.
That's estimated,
24 * 60 * 60 * 25?



OMFG



The craziness of rendering. It already kills me when one single frame takes minutes to render, imagine hours. O.M.G

2011.07.11 CNA shoot & 4th month <3

11th July 2011. HAPPY 4TH MONTH :)

Saw Atiqah tweeted about this shoot needing people, so went for it, with Tonton, and asked Nat n yiping along.
Ruiting and Pjie went too.
Some of the dvfx girls went along too.

I half regretted going?
It's like acting as audiences? And what audience, it's like audiences who need to show expressions n some are called to ask questions.

 

I spend half of the time waiting outside, cause they only need half the number of people at first, while Ruiting, Pjie & ton ton were inside filming.
I practically fell asleep while lending phone to nat to play, she is so in love with the games.

was suppose to have dinner with Tonton's at itacho for our 4th Month thingy,
asked nat and yiping along too, since they were out.

YEAH, for ITACHO.

buddy benson didn't make it cause he didn't bring his SD card, and thus he didn't turn up.

I actually did walked around and took photos, here and there, anyhow, close up, wide shot, etc.
Till, my shoes gave me blisters :(
was really tired and sticky. I hate the sticky feeling, not forgetting allll the stupid mosquitoes that attack me?
THANK YOU! I forgot the medicated oil, but I remembered the cooling mist :)

Watched Kungfu Panda 2
at IMAX, in 3D!!!!

Seriously, I am not really a fan of 3D, cause I wear specs.
Wearing an additional specs just means troublesome huh?
I was fidgeting throughout, adjusting them, taking them out, re-wearing, taking them out again, it repeats.
The 3D wasn't that bad though :D

The screen, okay, it's big, the seats are bigger, then?
I prefer going for digital at Cathay, actually?
No different. At least to me?
AT LEAST MAKE THE BLOODY CINEMA GRAND-er lah.

Am please that it's productive after all.
Finished the cuts for all the interviews and voice over.
Need some color correct actually, but oh well. sync them together with the reenactment first.

Am not going school later, have yet to finish my sculpting, which is due on TUESDAY.
BANGS. reality check, I really need to buck up and finish my assignments.

Wanted to stay awake through out to finish some other assignments, but I need to sleep before papa wakes up.
